Since her surgery on Thursday, Cassie has been in full recovery mode. Her pain and chest incision are being well managed, allowing her to begin focusing on regaining strength and mobility. Over the weekend, she had a couple of encouraging sessions with physical and occupational therapy, even sitting up at the edge of the bed for about 20 minutes—an important step in rebuilding her core and upper body strength.
She has also resumed her trache mask trials, breathing on room air, as she works to strengthen her lungs and return to full respiratory capacity. While she continues to require overnight continuous dialysis to support fluid removal, her care team is closely monitoring her progress, and every small step forward is a meaningful one.

Thank you for Cassie, thank you for her steps and strides she is making in recovery, thank you for her loved ones and her care teams who are supporting her along the way, thank you for mercy and grace in all things!! In all things we rejoice and lift up the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior 💕
Keep the faith and remember how far you have come! I think about you daily and remember the months in the hospital with Madeline, longing to be home, while you took care of Brody for me. You too will be home before you know it, enjoying a sunset at the lake and tucked into your own bed with your time at the hospital just a distant memory. A lot has happened since April but you my dear friend have continued to defy the odds. I always thought that Madeline was the strongest person I knew…you are giving her a run for that title! Keep it up…Love you! 😘
Keep building your strength! We enjoy reading your updates! The kids always ask how you are doing. 🙂 The Bishop Family

Cassie, sounds like steps for recovery are definitely in full swing. Sitting on the edge of your bed for 20 minutes must feel so good. I hope someone is giving you a back rub while you are sitting up! You are amazing the way you keep pressing forward….tho’ it certainly doesn’t surprise me. Of course daily prayers and positive thoughts for you and all of your courageous family.
