It is with a heavy heart that today we will be writing one of our last blog posts on Cassie’s Journey. Cassie peacefully passed today at 2:57 AM. Unfortunately the infection that was found in her respiratory system made its way into her brain and created a large mass pushing on the left frontal lobe. The medical staff could have performed an emergency brain surgery, with a low chance of success. The best case scenario would have been a surgery that resulted in frontal lobe damage, which would have affected her personality, memories, and right side mobility. She was surrounded by her family throughout all of Friday, and was showered with love.
We would like to sincerely thank you all for following her journey and constantly showering her and the family with love, prayers, and support. We ask that you please give the family time to recover and grieve the loss of a truly special individual. We will post service details on this page at a later time.

Dear Kurt, Jackie and family,
I just learned about Cassie’s long and devastating battle for her life—and my heart is shattered. I am regretfully just learning of any of this news today.
We met in 1989 and quickly formed the kind of friendship that only young adults away from home for the first time can build: full of laughter, late-night talks, shared hopes, and deep trust. I felt a deep connection with Cassie as a dear friend, sorority sister and bridesmaid. Even as the years passed and life took us in different directions, I never forgot her warmth, her brilliance, her laugh, compassion, and that spark she carried with her everywhere.
It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to lose someone who was such a vibrant part of your past. I’m heartbroken for her family and all who loved her. And I’m grateful for every memory, every moment, every laugh we shared.
Rest peacefully, my beautiful friend. You fought so hard, and you are so loved. 💔
Dear Kurt, Jackie, and family,
I just learned about Cassie’s heartbreaking battle and passing, and I’m in shock. I’m so sorry I’m only finding this out now.
Cassie and I met in 1989, and we quickly became close—building the kind of friendship that grows when you’re young and away from home for the first time. We shared late nights, lots of laughs, big dreams, and a deep bond. She was a dear friend, a sorority sister, and one of my bridesmaids. Though time and distance came between us, I never forgot her warmth, her humor, her kindness, and the light she carried with her.
Losing someone who was such a meaningful part of your life is hard to put into words. My heart is with all of you. I’ll always hold on to the memories we made and the love we shared.
Rest in peace, sweet Cassie. You are deeply loved and missed. 💔
She was such a wonderful person. She was my son’s favorite teacher and my daughter was looking forward to being in her class. She inspired kids to do so much. As a fellow lady in STEM I loved getting to talk with her. She was an encouragement and a joy. In my daughter’s words, “she was a beautiful lady who had lots of gifts”. She did indeed use her talents and gifts to her fullest. Prayers to your family.
